Delight in Architecture
Chicago Transit Hub
Chicago Transit Hub
Chicago has long been a hub of rail activity in the United States, and stands to me a major hub in the rebirth of rail travel in the form of high speed rail. The design of a hub of transit, commuter, and high speed rail systems here acts as a vehicle to examine questions of what in our built environment brings humans delight. We interact with our built environment much in the way we act in relationships with other people. We can either grow in our appreciation of the as we begin to understand their nuances and complexities or we can ignore or even begin to detest them if they offer nothing that intrigues, or worse, something that annoys. The beauty of a building, or a relationship lies in the clash between complexity and order, between surprises and habit.
